Game Development
Since my first ZX Spectrum that games are a part of my life. As I was growing up, gaming consoles where always present and so my will to make games, inspired mostly by Nintendo games. A friend introduced me to Games Factory in the late 90’s. It allowed me to actually make games without the need of coding. Made some mini games for fun and to show to my friends. After some years I dedicated more time to illustration, music and design, and less time on creating games. In late 2016 I challenged myself to develop a real game and discovered Construct 2, Unity and Unreal Engine.
“Myth of the 9”
A personal project started in 2017. Initially, a 2D top down RPG game, like Zelda (”A Link to the Past”). Developed in Construct 2 during free time, the project grew. The theme “Chickens” came about by chance. From there, I grasped the idea and gradually developed a story, a world in which the characters were born.
In the process, I discovered Unreal Engine 4 – a game engine that allowed me to increase the level of quality, and at the same time, required me to learn new tools. From 3D modeling in Blender, animation, blueprint programming, to musical composition, the project became more ambitious. In the process I acquired knowledge that allowed me to create other types of games on the same platform.
“Blast Master”
I wanted to create a simple and faster development than “Myth of the 9”. A new challenge to learn the total process of launching a mobile game on Google Play and App Store.
The concept: touch to destroy all the pieces on the screen without missing the active color, in the shortest time possible. The dexterity of the player is the main factor for a good score. The pieces are randomly arranged. Every x seconds, the type of piece to destroy changes. If you hit without fail, 100 points are added to each piece. Each error cancels the combo and 200 points are subtracted. In the end, the seconds and milliseconds subtract from the score to promote competitiveness with more score variations.
“Chicks Rescue”
Where it all begun. Started as a hobby to make a simple game. Developed in Construct 2 from December 2016 through May 2017 on my free time. From a rudimentary prototype with basic shapes, it grew in size and became the origin of “Myth of the 9”. You can actually play it here
I started to experiment other engines: Unity and Unreal Engine 4. After sometime I decided to remake the game in UE4. Watch one of the videos here.
